Active ingredients: Carisoprodol and Aspirin

Its active ingredient, Carisoprodol is seen to bind to the receptors in the brain that receive the pain signals. By doing so, it can block out the painful sensations between the brain and the nerves. This helps one to feel relief from the discomfort.

Apart from being a muscle relaxer, it is also known as a mental relaxer. This medication has certain mood elevating effects that can lift up your mood and fight the pain-induced anxiety. It increases the level of serotonin that can regulate mood to a considerable extent.

How to take Soma pill?

You should always follow the doctor’s instructions should be strictly followed for effective recovery from muscle pain. Given below are some guidelines for its safe usage-

•    The recommended dosage for Soma is 250-350 mg which you can take three times a day and also, at bedtime.

•    Soma 500 mg is the maximum dosage which should not be taken without an approval from the doctor. It should be used only under severe conditions.

•    Make sure to take the medication at the same time each day.

•    The maximum recommended period is 2 to 3 weeks. Do not take this medicine for an extended period.

•    Do not increase or decrease the dose without your doctor’s approval as it can be harmful to your health.

Who should not take Carisoprodol?

The following is the list of persons who should not take this medication-

•    A person with a medical history of cardiac/hepatic/metabolic/neuronal/renal disorders.

•    Someone with a history of drug abuse and addiction.

•    Those who are using certain prescription medications like alpha-blockers, anti-fungal medications like ketoconazole, antibiotics like erythromycin or linezolid, other muscle relaxers and pain medications.

•    Pregnant women or lactating mothers.

•    Children and young adults under the age of 18 years.

•    Geriatric patients who are above 65 years of age.

•    Regular alcoholic persons.

Note that the list is not exhaustive and there can be other categories of people who fall under this restriction list. So, you must consult with your doctor and follow his/her instructions carefully before taking this medication.
